Welcome to Lyngenfjord Hotel – a family-run hotel in Skibotn, approximately two hours from Tromsø.
As the autumn and winter darkness settles over the Lyngen Alps, Skibotn becomes a magical place to experience the Arctic. Thanks to the area’s dry and unique climate, with many clear nights and relatively little precipitation, Skibotn is one of the best places in Northern Norway for Northern Lights experiences.

Experience a Northern Lights hotel near Tromsø:
Every evening during the Northern Lights season, we create our own Northern Lights Camp directly outside the hotel. Gather around the crackling fire, settle down on benches covered with warm reindeer skins and step into our traditional lavvu, where the fire keeps you warm while you wait for the sky to come alive.
Just outside the camp, you can also meet our friendly reindeer – adding another authentic Arctic experience to your evening.
 
Easy to reach from Tromsø:
You can travel directly between Tromsø and Lyngenfjord Hotel with Arctic Route – with the bus stopping right outside our hotel. This makes it easy to combine a stay in Tromsø with several nights at Lyngenfjord Hotel, without the need for a rental car.
 
Arctic experiences from our doorstep:
Throughout the Northern Lights season, we offer activities and excursions directly from Lyngenfjord Hotel. Spend your days exploring the Arctic with experiences such as dog sledding, snowmobile safaris and whale watching, or slow down and experience local culture through an authentic meeting with a Sami around the campfire.
You can also get close to our reindeer and experience the simple joy of feeding these gentle Arctic animals. With activities departing from the hotel, you can combine exciting adventures with relaxed evenings by the fire and under the Northern Lights.
